The College and University Professional Association for Human Resources released its annual survey of higher-education faculty members on Wednesday. The Chronicle of Higher Education provides a summary of the report.  The Chronicle called attention to three key findings:

  • The overall median salary for full-time faculty members increased by 1.7 percent over the past year.
  • Contingent faculty members earn $1,312 per credit hour at doctoral institutions, where they are paid the most.
  • Forty-seven percent of faculty members are women. One out of five are minorities. Still, most department chairs are white.

The Chronicle also offers a database of faculty, staff, and adjunct salaries at colleges across the country.
